
Habitat: In a rather diverse range of habitats, including bogs, moist to wet clearings, rich alluvial forests, dry woodlands, barrens, riverside prairies, and outcrops; usually associated with either extremely acidic or highly calcareous substrates. Frequent in the Piedmont; infrequent to rare in the Coastal Plain and mountains.
Wildlife value: Pollinators love this plant, and birds relish the seeds.
Notes: Yellow flowers resemble the flower Black-eyed Susan but in a mini version
