Additional Info
Habitat: Dry to boggy woodlands and clearings, old fields, wet meadows, fens, and riverside prairies. Infrequent but widespread in the Virginia Coastal Plain and Piedmont; rare in the mountains
Wildlife Value: This plant supports Eastern Tailed-Blue (Everes comyntas) larvae. The adult butterflies feed on low-lying, open or short-tubed flowers such as white sweet clover, shepherd's needle, wild strawberry (Fragaria virginiana), winter cress, cinquefoils, and asters. It also attracts birds, bees, and mammals
